The Arlington Public Schools serves the citizens of Arlington, Virginia's geographically smallest county, located across the Potomac River from the District of Columbia. APS educates one of the nation's most diverse and sophisticated student populations - where 19,000 students come from over 120

countries and speak more than 100 different languages. APS operates more than 30 schools and programs.

SIS was selected as systems integrator and prime contactor during a multi-year implementation of an ERP System within Arlington Public Schools, VA. Called STARS, this project is one of the most significant technology initiatives ever undertaken within APS. The scope of the project is broad. It will impact in one way or another, all the major business functions within APS, encompassing over 4,000 public school employees, The new ERP System will lay the foundation for a administrative management environment that will serve the needs of APS over the next several decades.

SIS was selected by APS for the entire project life cycle from an initial Strategic Planning and Requirements phase through the Implementation project and subsequent support phases of the effort.

SIS will implement a full suite of web-enabled Oracle 11i Government Financials and HR/Payroll applications in an Oracle On Demand environment to replace a set of older mainframe applications.

SIS is managing the overall effort and is coordinated the efforts of SIS’ staff and the key staff resources of APS. SIS is providing a broad range of implementation services covering all aspects of strategic planning, system installation, training, configuration, interface development, conversion planning and execution, and overall project management.

The specific Oracle modules to be implemented by SIS include: General Ledger (including chart of accounts, organizational/cost center establishment), Purchasing and iProcurement, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Projects/Grants and Inventory, in a “rapid track“ project phase set to be completed in July 2006. SIS will also implement a full suite of Oracle Human Resources and Oracle Payroll applications in Phase II of this effort, scheduled to be completed on Jan-07. A final phase for all remaining modules will be completed in March 07.
